Each summer, the North York Moors are transformed as the ling heather comes into bloom, cloaking the landscape in its unmistakable purple glow.
This most widespread of heathers bears countless tiny flowers—so delicate they are barely visible alone, yet together they create the vast, sweeping carpet that defines the moors in August and September.
